Plastering and ceiling repairs for homes and businesses

A small damaged patch, a tired room and a failed ceiling need different approaches. We look at the existing surface and what is underneath it before agreeing whether to repair, skim or replace sections of the lining.

Contact Premier about plastering in a home you are improving, between tenancies or as part of a wider bathroom or kitchen refurbishment. An insurance claim is not required.

Our work also includes commercial entrance areas, such as the Tim Hortons ceiling repair in Stockport shown below.

  • Skimming suitable existing walls and ceilings for a fresh finish.
  • Plasterboard replacement and lining work where required.
  • Media wall creation and plastering, with LED lighting, painting and skirting included in the agreed scope.
  • Making good after plumbing access, repairs or alterations.
  • Local wall and ceiling patches, with the surrounding finish considered.
  • Ceiling repairs and reinstatement after the cause of damage has been addressed.

If a surface is damp, loose or repeatedly cracking, simply covering it may not solve the problem. Tell us about its history and any previous repairs so the preparation can be assessed.

From exposed wall to finished room

In this Manchester bedroom project, another contractor handled strip-out and drying. Graham then replaced the wall lining, plastered and decorated the bedroom. The story separates those responsibilities and shows the work at each stage.

Our Altrincham ceiling project provides a second example, showing a ceiling rebuilt and finished after a collapse. Alongside this repair work, we welcome planned plastering and skimming projects.

Undated portfolio work is attributed to Graham Leach. Premier Reinstatements (UK) Ltd was incorporated in January 2026.

Read customer feedback about Graham’s repair and renovation work, including a kitchen repair that involved a wall and ceiling being repainted. The project photographs above provide the specific evidence of boarding and plastering.

From first photographs to an agreed job

  1. Show the whole surface and the detail. Send a wide photograph of the room, close-ups of damaged areas, the postcode and approximate dimensions. Say whether walls, ceilings or both need work.
  2. Agree the preparation. We assess the existing finish, access and protection required, and whether patching, boarding or skimming is appropriate. Any unresolved leak or damp problem needs to be considered first.
  3. Repair and prepare for finishing. We carry out the agreed work and discuss the next stage of decoration. Plaster needs to be ready for the specified finish before paint or wall coverings are applied.

What affects your quotation?

The area to be covered is only part of the quotation. Ceiling height, access, furniture, removal of failed material, substrate condition and the amount of boarding or preparation all affect the work. Several small patches can require different preparation from one clear wall.

Tell us whether the room will be cleared and whether decoration, skirting or other making-good work is needed afterwards. If drying or leak repairs have already been carried out, share the handover information so the remaining work can be scoped properly.

Local work, with the right scope

Start with your postcode. We prioritise Rossendale and Rawtenstall, including enquiries from Haslingden and Bacup, alongside work across Lancashire and Greater Manchester.

We consider the location, size of the job and access before confirming availability. For a project elsewhere in the North West, send the details so we can confirm whether it is a suitable fit. Our Rawtenstall registered office is for postal correspondence, not a showroom or walk-in trade counter.

Common questions about plastering

Can you skim just one room or repair a small area?

Yes, send the dimensions and photographs so we can assess the scope and availability. A whole-room refurbishment is not required to make an enquiry.

Does a ceiling need replacing or can it be repaired?

That depends on the condition and extent of the damage, the lining and its support, and whether the underlying cause has been resolved. Photographs help us understand the problem, but a visit may be needed before deciding.

Can you plaster after an electrician or plumber has opened a wall?

We can discuss making good after access or alterations. Tell us what was removed, whether the work behind the surface is complete and whether any access point must remain available.

Can you skim over an old textured or painted finish?

The existing finish and its condition need to be assessed first. Do not remove an unknown coating just to prepare for a quotation. Send photographs and any information you have about the surface.

When can I decorate afterwards?

The plaster and background need to be suitably dry for the chosen finish. Timing varies with the work and conditions, so we discuss the appropriate next step rather than promise one drying time for every room.
